Satellite Licensing Co-ordinator
Alba Orbital is a fast-growing company based in Glasgow which specialises in building and sending the smallest (PocketQube) satellites in the world to space. We have a proven track record and have several launches scheduled for this year. With a growing list of clients, and launching in space with companies like SpaceX, we encourage our staff to participate in the expansion of the company.
We are on the lookout for someone to be responsible for managing the licencing and spectral coordination of both our satellites and ground station services. This role will also include handling the administration and logistics needed to ensure that space hardware is exported correctly and delivered on time.
About the job
Alba Orbital is expanding into earth observation data products, providing a revolutionary near real-time satellite imagery service. Telecommunication is a heavily regulated business and this position will direct Alba Orbital advocacy to ensure these regulations enable and protect the provision of this ground-breaking service.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Represent and promote the company position during technical coordination interchanges with other operators and external parties
Draft pleadings, letters, and other advocacy pieces to promote Alba Orbital's technical analyses, and help manage spectrum licensing
Contribute to company satellite spectrum policy
Help drive technical analyses pertaining to orbital debris and radio frequency interference
Interface with the satellite policy teams
Develop and administer regulatory licensing application preparation, pursuit, and compliance requirements for system and service licensing
Provide strategic regulatory advice and advocacy support to business development efforts
Oversee the import and export of satellites and associated launch hardware in compliance with current control laws
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or other engineering discipline
Previous experience in the telecommunications sector
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Juris Doctor degree
Experience with and understanding of spectrum use and policies (relevant training will be provided for the successful candidate)
Previous logistics experience is desirable.
Knowledge of radiofrequency spectrum technology
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Self starter with a ‘can do’ attitude
Good communication skills.
Proficient in the use of word processing and spreadsheet software.
